It’s my birthday next week and the husband has asked what I would like – leaving it a bit late don’t you think? ha ha
I think the reason he leaves it to the last-minute is because even after years together he still doesn’t really know what to buy me – because in all honestly I don’t really want – or, shall we say need anything.
I don’t want that to sound ungrateful but really as I said here when I turnt 40 a few years back and was being asked what I wanted – the things I want are really out of reach for me at the moment – like a bigger house…
It’s easy to say ‘oh just get me this or just get me that’ but I don’t believe in just buying things ‘just because’ I think gifts should be useful, thoughtful and a little bit special. A luxury treat you couldn’t really justify buying for yourself normally.
So, on that note even thought I say there is nothing I need or want – I can always think of a few luxury treats I wouldn’t return to the store. Because, as a women I nothing if not contradictory!
To make my working days a little easier I would love these luxury treats…
How to Break Up with your Phone by Catherine Price from Amazon – I use my phone for work, my blog and of course day-to-day – but yes, even I realise I am on it too much. I think I need to read this to reassess my work/life balance with my…phone
Cartier Tank Sole Watch from Goldsmiths – Having lost my beloved watch that my dad gave me for my 21st, a week before I was 41, literally broke my heart. Stupid I know as it’s just a watch – and, I don’t especially want a watch THIS expensive but, I guess something classic like this would fill the space on my wrist that I have yet to deal with.
Parker Sonnet Premium Lacquer Pen from Pen Heaven – I hate having a bag full of Bic pens – I prefer one really nice pen that you carry around in your handbag that looks stylish in meetings and is always to hand to make notes in my diary (yes, I still carry an old-fashioned pad as I cannot use my phone for appointments, meetings and dates as I need to physically write it down to remember it!)
Jones Rise & Shine Alarm Clock from John Lewis – I think I need to go back to basics and start using an alarm to get up in the morning as using my phone means I switch off my alarm and then scroll…. and, therefore my morning goes haywire. This sort of ties in with gift idea 1!
Clubmaster Optics Prescription Glasses from Ray-Ban – I have been wearing my glasses more and more to the office – as am struggling a little with my contacts on a daily basis – so, I would love some cooler frames and am lusting after these.
Cornishware Mug by T.G Green – I already have a classic blue and white mug but I love the new pastel shades and the personalisation service – as I’m not a fan of the communal mug cupboard at work and much prefer to have my own. With my name on would be great too.
On those days when I want to indulge in some me-time these would be an added bonus…
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream – I feel like the only person left to try this. I want to see what all the fuss is about – and, who doesn’t need a little magic on the birthday?
Grace: The American Vogue Years by Phaidon from Amazon – I have the first volume of these stylish coffee table books about the creative force that is Grace Coddington. I invested in the first volume when was published years ago but, at the time had no mortgage or childcare costs, so now buying a book of this price feels very indulgent. But, I would not only like to complete my set, I know there are limited editions and stylish books are always a great investment.
Sleep & Lounge Long Sleeved Shirt and Sleep & Lounge Pyjama Pants both Hanro – I love pyjamas. I mean really love them. I love nothing better than a clean pair after a bath or lounging in some soft ones at the weekend. I love the ‘boyfriend’ style of these and the classic blue stripe would be a welcome addition to my nightwear drawer.
Pure Silk Pillowcase by Slip – Forget the silk sheets of ‘Del-boy Trotter’ days these luxury pillowcases are a must-have. And, I really do want one. Why? They are loved by beauty insiders, supermodels for its anti-ageing, anti sleep-crease and anti-bed head qualities. Sold.
Happiness Wellbeing Street Duo from Neom – I’m a big fan of these candles as they actually scent the room, are 100% natural and don’t send out those black smoke clouds when burning (that in turn make your tiles and ceilings look dirty). I especially love the sleep and happy blends – and this copper candle cover is just gorgeous.
Candle Wick Trimmer and Candle Snuffer both from Diptyque – On the subject of candles, I think these would be really useful and of course, super stylish to have around the home and help keep all my nice candles in tip-to condition. As there is nothing worse that those ‘splayed’ candle wicks, is there?
And, just because. Little treats that would make my weekends home or away a touch more chic…
iPad mini 4 – I have one of the second generation iPad’s. and recently have been wanting to update it to one of these sleek, lightweight minis. Maybe it’s so I can catch up on Amazon Prime and Netflix while commuting or maybe it’s so I can quit my phone (see above) and be on this instead! Gold, silver or grey….decisions, decisions.
Monopoly Exclusive to Selfridges – I have been lusting after this since I spotted it last year at the press day – and I’m not sure why I want it so much! (It was on my Christmas list too…) Maybe because if anything is going to make a board game like Monopoly much more interesting it’s an imaginary shopping trip around Selfridges…And, what a collector’s item too.
Dixie Cream Flat Espadrilles by Miss KG from Kurt Geiger – I love an espadrille in the summer and these are fun. And, yes just perfect for an Instagram shot when on annual leave with the OOO on.
Autograph Leather A-Line Skirt from Marks & Spencer – I’m not usually one for such bright colours but a statement skirt is always a winner. I just love this yellow leather skirt and think it would be a great addition to my navy Bretons, white shirts and maybe even with a hint of red. An investment buy that’s for sure – but it’s a modern classic.
Erborian CC Creme from Space NK – I have been wanting to try this complexion enhancer for a while now as I’ve heard really great things about it and think it may just be what my skin needs this summer, as I don’t like to use a lot of foundation during the day.
In-Flight Case from Anya Hindmarch – After a few weekend getaways with work and going cabin case only I realised a clear plastic wash-bag was the way forward. This stylish zipped pouch would hold all those 100ml products neatly and I love that one side holds all you need for ‘take-off’ and the other for ‘touch-down’. First class travel at its best even if I’m not getting to turn left on the plane anytime soon.
Hey! I found you via Instagram – you followed me, thank you 😀 <3 – and love your posts. Those out of office shoes are SO cute!! Hope you had a lovely birthday xx
