London Fashion Week: British born jewellery brands to know

As New York fashion week ends, it’s now time for London Fashion Week – where the Autumn/Winter 2018 trends are making us mentally plan next what we will be wearing come next winter – although we have yet to embrace Spring – oh, yes Spring is on the way!

But, for now in honour of London Fashion Week and in my regular fashion week posts I’m talking London Jewellery Stars – those beautiful, delicate British jewellery brands you need to know about – that were all born-and-raised in the City of London.

This high street collection Z for Accessorize is in collaboration with jewellery designer Zara Simon (and also the daughter of Monsoon founder Peter Simon) and has been a sellout since its launch in 2014. The stunning collection of dainty, pieces often feature stars and moons and are made for layering and stacking. (Ring, from a selection Z for Accessorize)

Since its launch in 2012 Astrid & Miyu has had somewhat of an underground ‘fashionistas’ in the known following. Classy with a fashion forward edge – that you only seem to get from London brands – A&M is the brand to watch and wear! (Initial Earrings, from a selection at Astrid & Miyu)

A luxury brand that you will find at the likes of Liberty, Harrods and Net-A-Porter, Monica Vinader debuted in 2002 and is famed for its iconic friendship bracelets, vibrant gemstones and modern designs. (Bangle from a selection at Monica Vinader)

Founded in London in 2007 Astley Clarke has a bit of a cult following for its relaxed luxury pieces that modern women want to wear everyday, and not just for best either. Alex Monroe jewellery is feminine, delicate and quirky – but above all wearable – who doesn’t have a bee necklace in their jewellery box? Loved world-wide, a quintessentially British brand – Alex and his team have proudly since 1987, individually designed and handmade each piece here in England. Jewellery is in Maya Magel’s blood (as the granddaughter of a renowned jeweller) so launching her own in Hatton Garden in 2013 was an obvious move. MM is loved for its classic and minimal designs, using intertwining gold and silver with precious stones and charms to create a unique, subtle look that fit a women everyday lifestyle. Designers and founder Gary Wright and Sheila Teague met at Central Saint Martins and launched W&T in 1984 offering stylish, understated pieces that are meant to be worn and cherished for years to come.  (Rings from a selection at Wright & Teague)

A London based brand founded by friends and designers Tansy Apinall and Victoria Van Holthe in 2015 – Tada & Toy ( based on childhood nicknames) blend youthful designs with a Scandinavian twist that are made to be loved, layered and most importantly last.
