Welcome to #mamamondays… Junior Magazine, Wisley Gardens & Instagram

mamasvib, mamamondays, Monday quotes

Welcome to  #mamamondays.  Here I try to include anything that is making us happy – and hopefully you too – even though it’s a Monday. And, I have to say it really is making me try to make the most of this often ‘depressing’ day

It has been anything from what we’re doing or planning to what we’re eating, watching or reading. I’ve even included items I’m lusting after or buying and anything else that has been inspiring me to make Mondays – and the rest of the week if need be – just a little more bearable.

I really hope that #mamamondays is inspiring you to make the most of this fresh start we get every week…

WORKING

You may or may not have noticed that I have been somewhat absent from here of late….

It’s literally been down to starting my new job at Junior – which doesn’t feel so new now. I have been there just over 3 months and feel completely settled in. But, it came at the cost of not spending any time here.

This blog and my teeny-tiny space of internet helped me through the first years of motherhood, the beginning of my freelance career and gave me a space to share my thoughts, ideas and of course, my shopping edits.

Not being over here has been hard – but with commuting, working and generally trying to get into some sort of routine meant something had to give. And, after working on a computer all day the thought of doing the same in the evening wasn’t my idea of good work/life balance.

I don’t want to give this up – but I need to find ways to make it work for my life now.

If anyone has any tips please share them with me? I would love to hear them…

VISITING

One very nice perk of blogging and of course, working is being invited to lovely events and press shows. Especially, the ones where I can take my family.

This weekend was one such event where we’re were invited to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of In The Night Garden. Now, although Miss Marnie doesn’t watch this as much as she did she was still excited at the prospect of meeting Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and co.

I on the other hand was more excited to be visiting a place I had never been before – as is often the case with events over the weekend. Meaning I really don’t mind attending ‘work’ events on a Saturday or Sunday as they often mean you do get to see somewhere new – but they also make you get up and get out and make the most of family time.

The In the Night Garden celebrations were at Wisley Gardens – a Royal Horticultural Society garden that is one of 4 that the society run – and it just so happens to be almost on our doorstep in Surrey.

But, as is often the case when you live near to sights and places of interest you often overlook them. Wisley Gardens being one such place. I’m so glad we got the chance to visit as not only does it make a beautiful day out, the gardens as you would except are stunning and well worth a visit is the Glasshouse indoor garden and rock garden. There was also a family-friendly play park, beautiful cafe and amazing shop.

If you get a chance to visit Wisley the In the Night Garden interactive trail is on until 30th June.

PHOTOGRAPHING

My transition from behind the camera when I was a stylist to in front of the camera hasn’t been an easy one for me. But, I continue to try. And, try is all I can do.

Standing in front of the camera doesn’t come naturally to me.

I blink. I look awkward. I pull weird faces. I think I look fat. I think I look unattractive. I think all my flaws are noticeable. I get nervous. The list goes on…

So, why do it? Because I think its good to push yourself and I want to share my style and prove that you don’t have to be a size 10 to like fashion. I want to put my money where my mouth is.

If you’re not already following me on Instagram – where I am mainly sharing my ‘unselfie -selfies’ you can follow me here – where I have to say the lovely IG community is giving me some much-needed confidence to say ‘whatever? This is ME!’
