Welcome to #mamamondays… New Globe Traveller, Wild & Gorgeous & Junior Magazine

Welcome to  #mamamondays.  Here I try to include anything that is making us happy – and hopefully you too – even though it’s a Monday. And, I have to say it really is making me try to make the most of this often ‘depressing’ day

It has been anything from what we’re doing or planning to what we’re eating, watching or reading. I’ve even included items I’m lusting after or buying and anything else that has been inspiring me to make Mondays – and the rest of the week if need be – just a little more bearable.

I really hope that #mamamondays is inspiring you to make the most of this fresh start we get every week…

SUPPORTING

You may not have heard of New Globe Traveller. As I hadn’t until last week either and am I glad I did.

New Globe Traveller want to produce the world’s first high quality hand-made products made from up-cycled leather and tyre tubes. A new Eco range – yes! but with a slight difference. As they want to challenge the preconception that ethical products must be lacking in style or quality – and make a REAL difference.

And, by real difference they want to re-cycle yes, but they also give back too. With a unique One to One business model where each purchase will support educational creativity kits and scholarships for young street children in India in the buyer’s name.

This unique approach happens from the moment you purchase. At time of purchase you asked to send in a selfie, so the child you’ve funded can see who’s supported them. Then when your item arrives you will get a picture of this child with a personal thank you note. This allows for a more meaningful connection and will also include online updates.

Back to the products – weekend bags, back packs and travel accessories – although designed in the UK they will be manufactured by one of India’s pioneering up-cycling companies. Each pieces will be hand-made from high quality leather pieces that are sourced from leading leather factories and blended with tyre inner tubes that would otherwise have been disposed in landfills, and therefore cause environmental hazards.

No two pieces will be the same because of the organic pattern of the tyre tubes, each piece will be finished with high quality cotton interiors and vintage fittings making each piece unique. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the range – yes, they are all black (nature of the materials used) but there was no funny smell (which I thought there might be) and the unisex appeal of the bags and accessories gives them an understated elegance and timeless appeal.

New Globe Traveller will be asking conscious consumers to “join a league of new heroes” by investing in products that are both luxurious and ethical. For more information, the product range and details on the Kickstarter campaign which launches TODAY visit here.

WEARING

We’re already big fans of Wild & Gorgeous  – as Miss Marnie and I did a Mother’s Day campaign here with them last year when they were known by its former name, I Love Gorgeous.

It changed to Wild & Gorgeous with the launch of its debut boys collection last Autumn. The boys collection is not as extensive as the girls, yet – but the pieces are stylish, unique and next season will see it expand a little more.

So, when they asked us to be brand ambassadors we didn’t have to think about it for long – I mean wearing W&G pieces, taking a picture and sharing the love with the #mywildandgorgoeuschild once a month doesn’t feel much like work when you already love something does it?

Look out for our posts on Instagram (follow here) soon to see what Miss M is wearing from the new collection…

WORKING

I have some news… I have a new baby!

OK, not technically a baby but a new baby in the form of a new job! This week sees me starting at Immediate Media as the Editor of Junior magazine.

If you’re not familiar with Junior it was a glossy monthly print magazine that ran for 167 issues until it closed in June 2013 – not long after I had Miss Marnie – so I was really sad to see it go.

Now though Junior runs as modern family lifestyle website. It offers a mix features, expert advice (on all aspects of child development, education and health) and of course children’s fashion, interiors and child-friendly travel suggestions.

I can’t wait to start, as I will be running the website, updating the social channels and overseeing the Junior Design Awards. My first day is tomorrow… WISH ME LUCK!

** And, why not follow Junior on FacebookTwitter and Instagram
