Seems everyone around me is having a baby soon or just had one at the moment.
Which means coming up with present ideas is constant. As tempting as it is to buy a cute baby hamper and hand it to the new mum – I think we’re missing the point.
As much as a new mum loves receiving baby gifts – as it saves time and money going out to get these things themselves. I think the real secret is to treat the MUM.
After all she’s been through – be it a natural birth, C-section or assisted birth – its been a hell of an experience. Yes, a beautiful, healthy new baby is the greatest gift of all – but a few material treats wouldn’t go amiss too.
I know when I had Miss M I wouldn’t have minded a few more things that were just for me. As my baby shower had provided more than enough gifts for the baby (I talked about my fave baby shower gifts here)
With that in mind I’ve rounded up some great gift ideas that I would have been really grateful for…
LOUNGEWEAR…
After weeks in maternity nightwear some beautiful new pyjamas or loungewear would be a welcome addition.
Some soft joggers, a loose jersey tee or a cashmere cardigan would make any mum feel special when her days ahead are filled with feeding, soft play and coffee dates.

AND SLIPPERS
Bear with me. I know giving slippers may seem bit old fashioned but when they are these super chic Mahabis you’ll change your mind.
Mahabis slippers are super comfortable, have a collapsible heel for easy slip on (perfect when the door bell rings) and have detachable soles that flip on the base in an instant (meaning quick trips outside – to dump the nappy bags etc. will protect the slippers.)
GIFT VOUCHERS
Some people think vouchers are a bit thoughless. I disagree. If they are vouchers that offer something money really can’t buy then I say they are very welcome!
By this I mean vouchers for experiences that are priceless.
For new mums this could be vouchers for home cooked meals or for a team of people to come and clean your house.
COOK vouchers means home made, ready prepared meals for a time short new mum. Delivered straight to the door – it means when all the visits have stopped and people around to help has gone back to work any new mum can have a lovely lunch in minutes leaving plenty of baby bonding time.
MOLLY MAID vouchers for a clean and tidy home. How lovely would this be for a new mum and family? To have some professional cleaners come in and do a thorough dust, vacuum and wipe of the house.
BEAUTY BAG
Any form of beauty product is always appreciated but where I think people go wrong is buying a new mum – mum products. As much as a new mum needs creams and lotions for sore boobs, wobbly tummies and stretch marks they will have already stocked up on them.
Make your beauty gift a more luxury one by choosing some yummy bubble baths or indulgent oils and shampoos. When the time comes that a new mum can take a leisurely bath they will be the products she will be so grateful for.
My personal choice would be Elemis Bath Milk or some oils from Aromatherapy Associates.

PHOTOBOOK
One things all new mums will have is countless pictures taken on their phone. So, why not encourage them to make them into a photo book?
An e-voucher from Photobox for a book couldn’t be any simpler. Pictures can be automatically pre-loaded into a book – making it the easiest and fastest baby book ever.
Not only is this something new mums can do when baby is napping – it’s something that will be treasured forever.
AND, FINALLY…. JEWELS
Had to save the best for last didn’t I?
Whether it’s a ‘push present’ from the baby daddy or a combined gift from family, fiends or work colleagues – a piece of timeless jewellery is a treasured gift.
Not only will all memories of this special time be attached to this new piece – but it make the perfect jewellery to pass down to children and grandchildren,
My current fave collection is by SWAG. I have mentioned its Circle of Life range before here – but it really is the most beautiful orbital design to represent ‘the circle of life’ with some diamond and gem studded earrings, pendents and eternity rings.
Not only was the collection designed with mothers in mind – the simple jewels feature diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires and pink sapphires to suit any modern mums style.

What’s more the collection was created to celebrate SWAG’s partnership with Your Parent Guide and 20% of the proceeds go to PANDAS a pre and post natal depression charity.
So, not only will these gorgeous pieces make a new mums day they will go on to help other mothers too – in true circle of life fashion.
V. I. BE HONEST: This is a collaborative post but all thoughts and opinions are of course my own. This is part of a ongoing collaboration with SWAG.
