Welcome to #mamamondays. Here I try to include anything that is making us happy – and hopefully you too – even though it’s a Monday. And, I have to say it really making me try to make the most of this often ‘depressing’ day
It has been anything from what we’re doing or planning to what we’re eating, watching or reading. I’ve even included items I’m lusting after or buying and anything else that has been inspiring me to make Mondays – and the rest of the week if need be – just a little more bearable.
I really hope that #mamamondays is inspiring you to make the most of this fresh start we get every week…
One thing that stops us heading out at the weekend is the…rain.
It’s so easy to stay inside and avoid the wet, cold weather – but to be honest we all get a touch of cabin fever stuck indoors and really need to get some fresh air.
When Miss Marnie was a baby I thought nothing of wrapping us both us and getting out – maybe because she stayed put. In her pushchair. Under her rain cover.
Which now, as a lively toddler, she is having none of. So, the only way to keep us both happy (and dry) is some good quality rain wear.
At the moment I’m loving the selection at Joules – I picked up this floral quilted jacket for Miss M just before Christmas. I thought it had a touch of ‘Liberty’ about it and it’s the only coat she will let me button right up.

Seems you can get anything as a subscription box at the moment – beauty products, kids clothes, craft boxes…the list goes on.
So when I was offered the chance to try the Kitchen Trotter Indonesian box I’m not sure I was expecting to be overly impressed. I mean was it going to be like other food boxes I had tried once and never again?
Well, yes and no. Let me explain.
Yes, because as beautifully presented as Kitchen Trotter is – I mean look at the box – what you’re getting is a taste experience. A box full of herbs, spices and sauces to create authentic international dishes at home – with many products I had not come across on the supermarket shelves.
Included is a booklet on what additional ingredients you need to but to create such feast – along with the recipes and even a link to a music playlist to set the scene.
So even after the initial expense of the subscription you still need to buy fresh produce. OK no biggie , but I guess you just need to be organised enough you get everything for the day/night you want to cook up a storm.
Maybe not something I would buy monthly – as I feel I would want to use up these products a little before a new one arrived – but as a treat box for a special occasion I cannot fault it.
And, NO – because as an idea and a way to get you to liven up your cooking and taking you out of your ‘comfort/rut zone’ I think it a great idea. It’s something I think I would rather receive 3-4 times a year or when a kit appeals to me.
I do think however its makes an amazing gift for any foodies in your life.
Kitchen Trotter starts from £29.99 a month
I lusted after an Olympus PEN E-PL7 camera for a little while – those gorgeous, retro looking cameras that you may have spotted all over Instagram (they are a blogger and stylist must-have) so when I finally got one I intended to look after it properly.
I often pop it in a small drawstring back before popping in my handbag – to avoid it getting scratched, dirty or worse broken – but I’m not sure if this is really cutting it.
Especially since I spotted the Olympus PEN fashion accessories range – I mean how stylish and practical is this handbag with padded camera bag compartments inside?
And, the genius part? – the bag handle can be used as a camera strap too.
That is if you can resist the leather or link chain straps and multicoloured leather hand straps. Choices…
I want. I need.
