I have been posting #mamamondays for a few months now and I always try to include anything that is making us happy – and hopefully you – even though it’s a Monday. And, I have to say it really making me try to make the most of this often ‘depressing’ day
It has been anything from what we’re doing or planning to what we’re eating, watching or reading. I’ve even included items I’m lusting after or buying and anything else that has been inspiring me to make Mondays – and the rest of the week if need be – just a little more bearable.
I really hope that #mamamondays is inspiring you to make the most of this fresh start we get every week…
I’m a massive cinema fan. Before I had Miss Marnie I would probably go once a week. Be that to a preview or premiere that I got through work, for a casual date night with the husband or my fave – Orange Wednesday (remember that?) with my friends.
It’s probably one of the few pre-children activities I miss the most (oh and sleeping, eating alone..) As I’ve not watched a film on its release date – no make that release year – in ages. I’m not complaining – I mean I have Netflix now? It’s almost the same…
Anyway, back to the cinema. I’ve been waiting for the time when I can take Miss M and enjoy a girlie day out. Out first experience was in February when I took her to see Peppa Pig The Golden Boots. At only 15mins long (piggybacked (!) with a few episodes I figured she may just handle the hour screening and sitting time.)
Fast forward a few months and we had our first proper cinema outing.
Well almost. What we had was a special invite to The Soho Hotel to experience the Children’s Film Club.
The Children’s Film Club runs every Saturday at the 5* hotel in one of its screening rooms downstairs. If the sofas, drink rest and extra roomy leg-room isn’t enough to tempt you – the buffet will.
The relaxed weekend lunch (think mini burgers, hot dogs, pizzas, crudites, mac n’ cheese), popcorn, ice-cream and drinks (including a glass of Prosecco for adults). All this and a movie too (see website for listings) all for £20 per person (£10 for movie only)
I admit it’s not as cheap as your average cinema ticket but when you add up all the extras – really it’s the cost of a meal/ day out. And believe me it’s worth every. single. penny.

When I started blogging – really for me it was just an outlet for ideas and inspiration – I never really expected anyone other then my family and close friends to read it so to nominated for a blogging award is beyond amazing.
But, to be nominated for two blogging awards in one year is beyond beyond exciting and really if I’m totally honest a little shocking too!
I was a finalist in the MAD Blog awards for Best Pre-School Blog earlier this month – I didn’t win but after reading this – hey, I can live with that.
So, when a blogging friend of mine texted me to say I had been shortlisted for The Amara Interior Blog Awards for Best Fashion Inspired Blog – well that really made my head spin. To be nominated for what I hope this blog is all about – fashion + inspiration – then I can’t help feel very honoured and pretty damn nervous!
Why? Because the competition was tough and I’ve been shortlisted with some fantastic fashion bloggers and one of my all-time faves The Edited – so, more than anything I’m just planning on enjoying the ‘do.
Have I mentioned the awards do? It’s only at one of the chicest hotels in London – The Ham Yard Hotel and a cocktail bash no less – the best bit is we get to take a plus one. So, even if I don’t come home with the main prize I get to spend a fab night out with my mate and hopefully meet a few amazing bloggers too.
The event is at the end of the month. Wish me luck (and also can I say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to those who took the time to vote for me!)
I am a creature of habit. So, to retreat from my usual cleanser (Liz Earle Cleanse + Polish, as you ask) to another is a BIG decision.
I am pretty picky about my skin care products as I hate to spend a fortune on something and not like it. Plus, I like to use water rather than cotton pads to remove.
Having read great things about this Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm. I mean it’s award winning and on all the beauty hot lists. I thought it was time to mix it up and make the switch.
I had hoped to get it for Christmas and then my birthday – when it didn’t appear I treated myself to the triple pack. My theory being it cost the same as the single pot and if I tried and didn’t like/had a reaction I could at least give away the other two pots unused.
Well what can I say? I am converted. I’m not sure if its the double-sided cloth, the subtle citrus scent or the fact my (nearly 40) tired looking skin in looking less dull, dry, dehydrated and more plump, fresh and blemish free than it has in years.
In fact its all of the above. And, plus I picked it up in Marks & Spencer.
