Continuing with my new regular post which will include anything that is making us happy – and hopefully you – even though it’s Monday. But, a Bank Holiday Monday at that!
It will be anything from what we’re doing or planning to what we’re eating, watching or reading. Items I’m lusting after or buying to anything else that inspires to make Mondays – and the rest of the week if need be – just a little more bearable.
Step forward #mamamondays
CREATING
We’re big fans of stickers and have recently discovered sticker subscriptions as you may have read here – so, I was of course excited to try out Pipsticks.
I mean who doesn’t love stickers? Come on – admit it you enjoy them as much as the little ones? But, what especially appealed to me about Pipsticks is that its shipped from the US as I seem to always be drawn to American stationary online…
Yes, they send out stickers – of course – but this subscription offers a little extra. Each cool pack (look at the envelope and stamps for starters!) contains craft paper, postcards and several sheets of various sized stickers (with no cheesy characters!) ideal for a little cool crafting.
Plus, Pipsticks aren’t only aimed at kids. There is also an adult pack – ideal for scrapping, snail mail and crafts and the fabulous bumper sized family pack (containing triple the contents).
Staring at £9.50 a month for more information go to Pipsticks
DE-STRESSING
A few years back someone at work gave me a fashion doodles colouring book and some pencils as a way to de-stress – and I have to say it actaully helped. But, since having Miss M it was pushed aside along with reading magazines, finishing books and drinking hot tea!
But, of late I’ve noticed a lot of adult colouring books popping up (especially in WHSmith) and it inspired me to give it a try again. I picked up The Mindfulness Colouring Book (£7.99) as I loved the tag line ‘Anti-stress art therapy for busy people.’
With one thing or another this has been a challenging year and I figured this was a way to channel some calm. Colouring is said to have a de-stressing effect because when we focus on a particular activity, we focus on it and not our worries.
I’m willing to give it a go – and at least there will be no stress about ‘staying in the lines…’ as I think I can manage that!
The only rule is use crayons or pencils – as felt pens will go through the paper (and that would really stress me out!)
WATCHING
Since our Disneyland holiday Miss M has been in full on Disney mode. And, as much as I love a bit of Disney Junior with her – I’ve been trying to introduce her to the classics.
With this years live action re-make of Cinderella I guess it seemed a good place to start. Plus, the original animation from 1950 was always one of my faves (along with The Little Mermaid) – I mean how much nicer is the original princess Cinderelly than in the updated versions?
Miss M has been quite enjoying Cinderella too – I think it may be down to the length (just over an hour), the songs (‘Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo’) and the mice (I mean how adorable!). It’s also been a welcome distraction form Frozen …for a few days at least!
It also gave me a great excuse to do a little Cinder’s round-up:
1. T-Bar charm bracelet £7.99 Argos
2. T-shirt £40 Courage & Kind at Selfridges
3. Cinderella movie collection book £9.98 Amazon
4. Costume £30 Disney Store
5. Gus baby costume £12.95 Disney Store
6. T-shirt £9.99 Mango
7. Sweatshirt, from selection at Mango
Cinderella has especially stolen her heart after our friends at Disney sent her this doll from the movie (I’m trying so hard not to get worked up when she takes the dress on and off…)
