Continuing with my new regular post which will include anything that is making us happy – and hopefully you – even though it’s Monday.
It will be anything from what we’re doing or planning to what we’re eating, watching or reading. Items I’m lusting after or buying to anything else that inspires to make Mondays – and the rest of the week if need be – just a little more bearable.
Step forward #mamamondays
WATCHING
Bit late to the party on this one…and now I know what I’ve been missing. Netflix – you may be my new best friend. Netflix – if you too didn’t get the memo too – is a on-demand internet streaming media service. Read more here
Anyway, I was invited to a Netflix event with the team behind Mothers Meeting – where we were given a free 6-month subscription. I normally don’t sign up to these sort of things – as you’re often tied in for a year etc. But, with Netflix you can cancel at any time.
So, we signed up and Mr VIB also brought this remote control – so we could stream to our TV rather than watch through our computer (yes, we are without a smart TV too!). And, we’re hooked!
I love watching American drama series and used to watch everything on TV but since having Miss M I had to admit defeat and drop some series I was enjoying – not only to free up space on Virgin Box but because I simply didn’t have the time/brain power or even the inclination to sit and watch TV.
I’m glad to say I’m over that now (phew) as those cloudy new baby days are in the past and with a toddler that goes to bed at 7.30pm (ish) I have reclaimed my evenings back. So this means I can have a bit of TV time and what I love about Netflix is watching what I want, when I want. Now that really is claiming back my #metime.
First up has been Dexter – we had watched this from the beginning and then stopped, now we’ve picked up where we left off – and it’s as brilliant as I remember.
I’m also looking forward to watching Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt too!
USING
Some amazing new products from Green People. They kindly sent me some skincare products to try from its new Age Defy+ range. A collection of products designed for women aged 35+ – to improve vitality and suppleness.
My ‘youth boosting’ package contained a cleanser, exfolitor and line eraser. Ooh – just what my tired ‘I have a toddler’ skin needed. One thing that also appealed to me was the ‘organic’ ingredients that Green People use – I will admit I haven’t really used much organic skincare so was hoping for some postivite results.
Although, I am not confident enough to show you any close up pictures of my skin – yet. I can say that after a few weeks of using Green People Age Defy+ i have noticed my skin looks less dehydrated and has a definite smoother feel. To the point where a fellow mama commented on how well I looked. Result!
The fab Purify & Hydrate Cream Cleanser comes in a handy pump bottle – that also means you don’t use to much (something I do a lot!) I also love the sweet mandarin scent and it really makes my skin feel refreshed. I often wipe it off with my fave face cloths.
I have been using the Soft Buff Skin Exfoliator and it’s so gentle you almost feel like you’re not really having a ‘scrub’ but the feel of my skin afterwards says otherwise. My skin felt so refreshed and ‘clean’ I had to stop myself from over using it (once or twice a week is enough). It also has a lovely mandarin, orange and neroli scent – bliss.
Finally, after using my regular moisturiser I’ve been finishing off with Line Eraser & Eye Serum – don’t you love a serum? It lovely and feels like such a treat.
Have you tried Green People? I would highly recommend.
BUYING
Retro books on eBay. Once I get something in my head that I want – I love nothing better than a search. Be it out of print books or a set of vintage plates – I get a real ‘fix’ from finding them.
My latest search was for some Ladybird Garden Gang books I had as a child – that I wanted to re-read and re-discover with Miss M.
I was reminded of them at the last Boden Press show where they used them as props to showcase it’s Britain in Bloom collection.
I am just on the search now for the remaining few to complete the collection… (and the hard to find annual!)
