When I was growing up the thought of wearing a Christmas themed jumper would have been a BIG no-no or something you popped on because your granny/auntie had knitted it or, your mum forced you.
I remember having one set that I loved though – it was a sky blue knitted jumper with a Fair-isle and reindeer style print and came with a matching bobble hat and leg warmers – oh, how stylish I thought I looked. (In fact I wish my mum HAD kept this as Miss Marnie would look so fab in it!)
Anyway, I digress. Christmas jumpers are no longer seen as naff are they? Thanks to the fantastic charity day that is Christmas Jumper Day – set up by Save the Children.
Now we’ll happily share our festive knits. This year the date is set for Friday the 12th December (so, next week folks…) It’s only in its third year but already the Save the Children #christmasjumperday fund has raised over £1.6 million. This money goes directly to saving children around the world. What I think is great is not only does it help those most affected globally it also helps children a little closer to home.
Did you know here in the UK 3.5 million kids are living in poverty? Due to lack of food, heating, household essentials like a cooker and good childcare. Shocking isn’t it? So, any little thing we can do to help really DOES help.
Now I don’t want to preach – as everyone is hard pressed for money especially around Christmas time but really slipping on a festive jumper and donating £1-£2 is something everyone can do, right?
And, its really couldn’t be any simpler. Just text JUMPER to 70050 – and even better this year the government have agreed to double your money – matching every pound donated. Now doesn’t that make you feel all warm inside?
And, if you need some Festive Knit-spiration I have picked my favourites on the high street now;

Love your edits here, and I totally agree I'm also embracing Christmas jumpers, especially when it's for a good cause! x
