I picked up a copy of Lulu’s Loo at the library as a gentle way introduce something I’m avoiding. Potty Training.
I really have my head in the sand about it – and thankfully I don’t think Miss Marnie is anywhere near ready – and that suits me fine. But, I figured just because I’m not ready it didn’t mean I couldn’t start getting Miss M ready.
She loves books so when I saw this interactive and lift the flap book I thought it was a good place to start. I was drawn in by the sweet illustrations, charming nature and straightforward text.
And, its been a big hit. Miss M grabs the book and shouts ‘loo-loos loo’ and then happily sits and listens as I read it over and over.
Whether or not she is truly understanding what is about to come – its definitely preparing me!
We’ve had to return the book to the library – it has a wait list (now that is proof enough what a great book it is!) – so, our own version is being delivered by Amazon as I type.
It’s also made me want to search out all the other Lulu books. Does anyone else do this? Where you find a book you love and then you HAVE to have the whole set! They are now on Miss Marnie’s Christmas wish-list…
And, coming in September 11th is two new titles: Lulu Loves Colours and Lulu Loves Noises.
The Lulu collection is written by Camilla Reid (she’s an ex editorial directional for a children’s book publishers – so, she knows her stuff about capturing a child’s imagination.)
