BOOKCLUB SPECIAL: Inspired by New York Fashion Week
Last season I did a round-up of classic books to kick-off the start of the fashion week – so, I thought I would add to my previous posts with my favourite New York City titles to mark to start of NYFW on Thursday…
1) A Walk in New York by Salvatore Rubbino £5.24

Taking in all the famous landmarks and well known streets a father, son and their dog explore the Big Apple – why not join them?
2) Hello, New York City! by David Walker £4.13
Published: 2010 || Age: 2-5 years
A beautiful board book with lively illustrations, simple text and a page to reference each historic sight.
3) 1 2 3 New York: A Cool Counting Book by Kevin Somers £4.73
Published: 2008 || Age: 2-3 years
Bold, simple illustrations make counting from 1 to 10 using familiar NYC landmarks, boroughs and tourist attractions.
4) Eloise by Kay Thompson £5.59
Published: 1955 || Age: 6-9 years
No New York book collection would be complete with mentioning Eloise. The little 6-year old who lives in the Plaza Hotel with her nanny and is often left daily her own devices with hilarious results. Read one of my review here.
5) Hello, New York by Julia Rothman £12.99
Published: 2014 || Ages: 10 years +
‘A illustrated love letter to the five boroughs’ by a life long New Yorker who’s illustrations have also appeared on wallpaper, bedding, newspapers and subway posters. You will want to keep this part guide, part sketch book for yourself and pass down to you older kids to explore NYC from the comfort of home.
6) New York, Baby! by Ward Jenkins £7.21
Published: 2012 || Age: 12 months -4 years
Two babies go on a big adventure in this board book that shows why Manhattan is the best place to be. The rhyming text makes it an easy read for parents. Also check out San Francisco, Baby!
7) New York: A 3D Keepsake Cityscape (check out Amazon Market place)
Published: 2011 || Age: 3+
Explore the city that never sleeps with this fantastic fold-out 3D book and that allows you visit all the sights and learn some facts along the way. It then fold backs on itself and pops back into a sturdy slipcase cover.
8) New York, New York! The Big Apple from A-Z by Laura Krauss Melmed & Frane Lessac £4.19
Published: 2008 || Age: 4-8 years
Go on an A – Z illustrated tour of NY and discover why the city is so great they named it twice! Brilliant rhyming text that kids will love.
9) Subway by Anastasia Suen £4.11
Published: 2008 || Age: 12 months-3 years
Toddlers will love this board book about a mummy and her daughter taking a ride with all the hustle and bustle on the Subway. ‘a rush of air, a car is here, hop, hop, hop, on the subway.’
10) This Is New York by Miroslav Sasek £7.69
Published: 2003 || Age: 4+
No child’s bookshelf should be without one of these classic pictorial tours of the world’s greatest cities and countries by Sasek – and, what better title to start off your collection than this one?

I have visited there before yosemite tour from san jose with my business partner. It is a beautiful city in the world. These books are very information for kids about New York.
