I love stationery. I’m the sort of person that hyperventilates in Paperchase. Sad, but true I can’t help it all those pens, thank you notes, stickers, folders… *gets to much and nips over to Paperchase online*
Even on holiday I cannot pass a stationery shop without going in. Most of my fave shops/sites are in America like Hello! Lucky, Rifle Paper Co. and Paper Source.
So, when it came to sending out our birth announcements I took to planning them weeks (OK, months!) before I was due.
Maybe it took my mind of the actual birth, was an excuse to scan Pinterest or just because I find nothing more exciting than posting out… new stationary.
I’m not sure why – but I loved the idea of an old-fashioned library cards. I also wanted to stamp them myself to make them look more authentic. I found most of my supplies on eBay and office supply sites.
I used vintage-style library pockets, lined insert cards, a date stamper and a postage stamper. I also took a photo of Miss Marnie in her hospital cot using the Hipstamatic App.
Then I sent them off via the app to be printed – so, I could get the perfect old style Land camera/vintage Polaroid size print – I told you OB-sessed!
I was really quite pleased with the results – and my mum (and super proud first-time nanny) even framed hers!
What do you think would you make your own announcements or is a
text/email/Facebook message enough?
