Today is National Libraries Day so we are heading to our local library this morning. Most libraries are celebrating with fun activities, rhyme time, treasure hunts and crafts. Check to see what’s going on in your area here.
Miss Marnie loves books – and that’s something I am really proud of. She loves to sit and listen to stories, point at the pictures and if it’s an animal book, do the sounds (especially a lions ROAAAAAR!). I believe all children can love books and thats why our libraries are so important!
Borrowing books is a great way to read lots of different types of books without having to splash on on expensive ones you/your child may not like, the perfect way to discover new titles and even some classic ones. (As long as you return them on time as building up library fines is easy to do and can almost cost you the price of the book!)
I used to love going to the library as a child (and collecting my book tokens) – but it seems a little ‘old fashioned’ now – which is why I think its really important to support your local one.
Miss Marnie and I go at least once a week and even though sometimes she isn’t in the mood to sit and read – we might play (quietly) hide n’ seek through the bookshelves – I still believe she is learning the joy books, reading and libraries can bring.
Happy Reading!
