What’s inside my baby change bag – & the items I don’t leave the house without

My V. I. BAG the Storksak ‘Elizabeth Leather’ in Tan

WHAT’S INSIDE:

1) Storksak Bag

I brought the Elizabeth Storksak because I wanted a classic bag – not one of those awful ‘yummy mummy’ logo bags or worse a novelty character one!

I figured I was going to be carrying this bag everyday for a long time so it was worth investing well. So far, I have to say I am still happy with my choice and it’s looking even better with age.

The bag comes with a changing mat and bottle warmer which is super handy. I also brought the Strollerclips so I could attach it to our pushchair (this also means the handles don’t take the weight and therefore break!)

2)  Muslins
These Rainbow Muslins by Faye + Lou are not the cheapest but they really do keep their shape and colour after every wash. Plus, I can always find them in my bag (great when your have a newborn and a sea of whites bibs/baby grows/nappies in your bag).

I’ve used them as a make-shift bib, light blanket, breastfeeding cover, changing mat and have mentioned them here before.

3) Supplies
Now Miss Marnie is a toddler I always seem to have some form of sippy cup (NUK is a current fave), treats and smoothies in my bag for on-the-go snacking.

4) Make-Up
I have a mini make-up bag with concealer, lipstick and mascara for quick fast grooming. But, these 3 essentials are always to hand.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant which I use this on my lips, hand, cuticles, flyaway hair – ooh, and I use it on nappy rash, dry patches and little grazes for Miss Marnie too.

Mum & Me Hand Gel and Bliss Blood Orange & White Pepper Hand Cream (the mini tube doesn’t weigh my already heavy bag down.)

5) Wet Wipes

This Huggies wet wipe holder has been a godsend – it means I don’t have to lug around packs of wet wipes (I just load up each night). These containers are quite hard to find now (except on eBay – but these are a good alternative).

I also carry Tommy Tippee Closer to Nature Bottle, Teat and Soother Wipes – Not very glam, I know! But, when Miss Marnie was first weaning I used them on highchairs when out and about and for her teethers and toys that got dropped on floor. I still carry them now – just in case I need to wipe over tables in cafes/ toys at soft play.

6) Lose Change

I like to have a small purse with change handy for quick shopping, my Lulu Guinness Oyster card holder for our many bus and train trips and a notebook and my fave fibre tip pen (not only can I make notes when ideas hit me for mamasVIB but also as my ‘baby brain’ memory still fails me in the supermarket!)

7) Spare Clothing

Some form of clothing change. I love these Boden bodysuits in a bag – I often take the bag with an extra bodysuit, a spare tee and leggings in. The bag is also perfect for popping the dirty clothes in afterwards.
