After years of office dressing –  a working from home wardrobe has taken some getting used too. Throw in a maternity leave and I can see how easy it is to sit in your pjs all day.

I mean what’s the point in getting dressed when you’re not really going out? Who is going to see you sat at your home office – be it a desk or the kitchen table – sat in your nightclothes with your hair tied in a messy bun?

In all truth no one – expect maybe the postman. And, even then thats only for a few minutes. But, really after a few months of ‘not getting dressed unless I really had to’ (yes, I shamefully admit I even did a few nursery runs in my ‘are they pyjamas or jogging pants?’) I decided I needed to smarten up my act.

For one I was finding I was slipping into that ‘stay at home’ mode – watching daytime TV, doing a few chores and not really achieving much from my to do list.

I was finding I wasn’t ‘work’ ready in my mind  as I wasn’t dressed for ‘work’ and therefore I wasn’t ‘working’ my best. Even when I was on the phone I didn’t really feel in control and really I didn’t feel very professional.

So, I made a pact with myself to get out of this working from home rut and sort out an easy wardrobe with some simple and causal pieces that could be mixed and matched.

Above all everything had to be comfortable (in the way that all only sleepwear really is) and stylish (so that if I did open the door, or needed to pop out for something I looked pulled together)

Getting up, washed, dressed and even popping on a little base/lipstick has make a world of difference to how I look and feel – and has made me so much more productive and put me in much more of a confident mindset.

In fact, a few minutes spent getting ready – without having to run for a train afterwards has meant I get so much more done. As I can easily pop out for a coffee break or to the post office without it being a big deal and that horrible ‘I-need-to-get-dressed-but-I-can’t-be-bothered’ feeling.

If you work from home – even just a few days week here’s some stylish outfits ideas that will ensure you mean business as usual:

DEADLINE DAY

When you’re on deadline or really need to knuckle down and get some serious work done you want to be comfortable (you know like you have your onsie on still).

Some soft trousers, a motivational tee and some easy shoes and you’ll be a the finishing line in a jiffy (or, enough time to catch last moments of The Chase). A sports bra will also give you some support without being too uncomfortable.

GARDEN OFFICE

One of the nicest things about working from home is your portable office – so if the sun is shining get outside. But, forget sunbathing and enjoy the fresh air – and the ideas that will come.

When I’m working at home I never seem to drink as much water as when  I was in an office – missing those water cooler gossips maybe! So, a carafe is a great way to ensure your rehydrating enough.

This playsuit is so soft you could just roll straight into bed if you end up working late into the night – and the cosy cardigan is a working from home must-have’.

These Modal joggers are so soft you can sit in them all day – but if an impromptu meeting pops up they can be dressed up fast.

Just throw on a jersey jacket, add a pendent and you’ll be there in record time. Don’t forget your laptop and business cards (ooh, and to switch to dishwasher on before you leave!)

I always find that I am more productive when I'm looking together. I love all of these selections but those t-shirt dresses are fab. I love a dress because you can throw it on, add shoes and some lippy and then you are set for the day. Hugs Mrs H xxxx

Some great choices there, I'd probably say my favourite is the last one. I've worked from home for the last 2 years and you do need to flick the switch. I tend to walk G to Kindergarten as a step out of the house and back into the office kind of attitude. Enjoy the 'work from home' shopping spree. Thanks for linking up to #StreetStyleSunday and I hope to see you tomorrow x

Where has my comment gone??!!! I commenting on this, but think it was through my phone :(( Anyway love your selection lady as always, especially love the dip dye dress from Gap and the playsuit. Oh and the days of the week knickers and the birks. #StreetStyleSunday xx
