When it comes to a high street and designer collaborations for kids – no one can touch Gap Kids.
Really I don’t think any other store gets me in such a fashion-panic … You know when you have to have every item, like NOW. And, this new range by husband-and-wife designers Kate Spade and Jack Spade is no exception.
Previous collections that have sent me into a spin include the Stella McCartney and Diane von Furstenberg ones (and I didn’t even have a baby then!) and not forgetting the pieces with Peter Rabbit and Paddington Bear too
Not only is this US designers Kate and Jack Spade’s first ever joint collaboration, it’s their first ever kids collection. And, believe me it’s a winner. The Kate Spade New York label launched with handbags in 1993 and Jack’s satchels and men’s carry-all came 3 years later. It now includes fashions, home, stationary, books, jewellery and gifts.
Their collection with Gap Kids has allowed them to take their quirky and signature designs into a more fun ‘kids fashion space.’ With their bold and bright colour mash-ups, whimsical patterns and cheeky logos – it will make you want to squeeze into them yourself!
Perfect for the holiday season the inspiration behind the line is a brother and sisters magical and of course, made-up journey from packing up the car to arriving and staying at their grandmothers house during the holiday season.
For the girls there is Christmas bows on shoes and party dresses, polka dots, candy stripes and classic ‘Kate’ logos tailored for tots like ‘Are we there yet?’ and ‘Skirt the rules.’ Alongside these is classic must-have handbags, belts, purses and sunglasses shrunk for the younger customer – I mean too cute!
And, for the mini Jack Spades‘ there’s colour blocking sweatshirts, stylish camouflage parkas and rucksacks and mischievous cartoon eye print shirts. Mixed with printed scarves, antler knit hats and quotation mark printed mittens. There is also a selection of hamburger and hotdog motif tech cases.
Prices range from £4.95 – £80 and ages from 2-12 years. I suspect this limited-edition range will fly of the shelves so get shopping now. It’s not cheap admittedly for kids clothes but these are must-have pieces for the mini fashionistas. You have been warned – as once it gone it gone and its a lonely day searching eBay (as I well know after not picking up a Peter Rabbit dress for Miss M..I still kick myself now that I never brought it!)
